Children`s folklore ensemble Úsměv Opava was founded in the institution of Dům dětí a mládeže in 1978. At the time, it was the first children`s folklore group in Opava. Leaders of the group were the married couple Olga and Jan Wajda, now Soňa Wenzelová. The ensemble presents the folk art typical for the region of „Opavské Slezsko“. Children perform in historically reconstructed clothing, which was typical for Opava region. The group cooperates wiht many people, who were engaged or are engaged in folklore. The performances of the ensemble Úsměv accompane cymbalon band. Cymbalon band interpret not only Silesian folklore, but folklore from other regions of Czech Republic like „Valašsko“, „Slovácko“, and Slovakia. The group has participated and performed at various festivals and folklore meetings at home – Chodníčky k domovu – Opava, Strážnice, Children`s Strážnice, Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, Dolní Lomná, Kroměříž, Luhačovice; and abroad as well – Denmark, Poland, Austria, Lithuania and Croatia.
